Since the age of three, Chelsie Hill had dreamed of becoming a dancer. That dream nearly ended one night in 2010. Hill was in a car accident that put her in hospital for 51 days and left her
paralyzed (瘫痪). For most people, that would have destroyed any hope of a dancing career. For Hill, it was the beginning. Far from being a difficult, her wheelchair encouraged her to think a lot of her life and she wanted to prove that she was sill "normal".
"Normal" for her meant dancing. With half of her body taken away, Hill had to move it with hands. It took a lot of learning and patience, but she still made it in her wheelchair with her non-disabled high school dance team.
After graduation from high school in California, Hill wanted to expand (扩展) her dance network to include women like her. She met online the women who had suffered various back injuries but shared the same determination with her.
Hoping to reach more people in a larger city and break down the false belief of wheelchair users, Hill moved to Los Angeles in 2014, formed a team of dancers with disabilities and named it the Rollettes. As she always believes, dancing on wheels can be just as good as foot-based dance.
In disabled dance competitions, all dancers from her team gave great performances and they were having fun. And the audience's cheers, whistles and applause (掌声) suggested that the fun was spreading.
Hill has achieved what many of us never will: her childhood dream. But the Rollettes has helped her find something else just as satisfying. Every year she holds a dance camp, the Rollettes Experience for wheelchair users of all ages to help them find their inner heroines (女英雄). In 2019. over 173 women from ten countries attended the Rolettes Experience. For most of these women, it was the first time they had felt they belonged .Edna Serrano told a reporter that being part of the Rollettes team challenged her to be more independent. “It even gives me the courage to take up driving." she said.

高一英语完型填空中等难度题查看答案及解析
At one time it was the dream of many little girls to become a nurse. Today, however, America is facing its worst nurse shortage since World War I. Recently about 2, 000, 000 nurses are needed and 60 percent of all hospitals in the US have shortages large enough to threaten the quality of care provided. The demand for nurses spreads widely throughout the nursing field.
What has become of these women in white? The answer lies in not one but several causes. One possibility is the fact that women have greater career options(职业选择). In the past, women who chose to work outside the home had two basic choices: nursing or teaching. Today, more women than ever are in the work force, but their options have greatly increased. There are women doctors, lawyers, firefighters and police officers. In fact, women today are found in nearly every field of work. Nursing has been left behind, as women move on to jobs with higher pay and greater status(地位). A woman or man in the nursing field is often looked down upon as “merely a nurse”. Teachers may be also at fault. Many high school students are actually being persuaded to keep away from nursing, told by teachers that they are “too bright to be a nurse”.
Americans are living longer than ever and requiring more medical attention. In fact, the number of elderly patients has almost doubled in the past twenty years. Obviously a larger population requires more nurses. AIDS and other diseases have caused more and more people to need nursing care. Usually fatal diseases mean long drawn-out hospital stay, that is to say, more nurses are needed to care for these patients. It is said that the demand for nurses will be doubled in the coming ten years.
1.What are the main factors that are responsible for the shortage of nurses in America?
A. Women are better educated and provided with more different jobs than men.
B. More women are clever enough to be doctors, lawyers and police officers.
C. Greater career options are offered for women and more patients require nurse care
D. There are more diseases and nurses are badly paid and looked down upon.

A. not mentioning the worst nurse shortage in the US
B. advising the students not to choose to be nurses
C. introducing jobs with higher pay and greater status to their students
D. not asking the government to raise the nurses’ payment
3.The author wrote this passage in order to ______.
A. describe the unequal treatment of women in the US
B. tell us women’s free choice of jobs today in America
C. draw people’s attention to the nursing shortage problem
D. call on more women to be nurses after graduating from high school
4.Which of the following is true according to the passage?

B. Women in the US have greater career choice than in other countries.

Ever since I was old enough to dream,I have imagined myself flying with the eagles. My love of flying has shaped the way I live and the person I have become. Two years ago that passion rocketed to new heights when I visited Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona. For a whole week I lived in a college dorm, roomed with a total stranger, and best of all,I flew!
My group took part in activities from learning about the history of aviation(航空)to flying in pilot training simulators(模拟器).At least once a day,I was lost in one of the world's best training aircraft, the Cessna 182.I received thorough ground instruction, and also got to fly.In total,I flew five hours toward receiving my private pilot's license. In that joyous week,my passion for aviation grew even stronger. Now,whenever I see a plane flying overhead, I feel a sense of pride, thinking I've done that.
During my time above the Arizona desert,I learned not only about the mechanics and techniques of aviation, tout also about myself and how I see the world.Floating in that seemingly endless sea of air,I became aware of the variety and the complexity of the humanity below. On the ribbons of roadways, each tiny car carried people with hopes and ambitions.I wondered if any of them had ever wished to fly like an eagle.I realized they must have their own strong desire. That's what makes us unique. We always try to respond to something special inside us.I also realized that I was especially fortunate to be making my own dream come true.
Everywhere I go,I hear,"Do what makes you happy, and you will be happy."It sounds like standard advice, but I've really thought about it and taken it to heart.I couldn't care less about what benefits I receive.I know I am already in hot pursuit of my dreams.Even if they change, and even if they finally don't involve aviation,I'll always aim to fly with the eagles.
