Giving a speech in front of your class can be challenging. However, you can do something to make it success. First of all, you need to do something about your topic. For example, choose a topic about something you like, such as something that interests you or someone who is close to you. Once you’ve chosen your topic, try to find useful information about it online or from the library. As you do this, write down the information that supports your ideas in a valuable way.
Rehearsing(排练) your speech is also important. For this, you’d better write the script (讲稿) just like talking to your friends. Keep your script simple. Use interesting examples or stories to show your ideas. Once you finish your script, read it out loud to yourself and remember it. After that, write down 2 to 3 points that you may forget on a note card. Finally, you have to practice your speech in front of something or someone until you don’t have to look at your note card.
In the end, it’s time to give the speech. At this time, stand straight and hold your head high. This will show that you’re confident. Show your listeners that you’re excited by smiling before you begin and throughout the speech. Pause(停顿) after finishing a sentence, or after saying an important point. It will allow you time to collect your thoughts.
If you’re out of breath while speaking or if your words start running together, you’re most probably speaking too fast. If this happens, take a breath and slow down. While talking, look at your listeners, like friends. What’s more, if you don’t remember the next word or line, pause for one or two seconds to look at your note card. Before you begin speaking, take a deep breath, smile at your listeners, and then go on.

Members of an international organization are called the Global Greeters. They offer travelers the chance to get to know a city as well as local people do.
Unlike the professional guides(专业导游), the volunteer greeters act more like neighbours. They take visitors to visit the city–either on foot or public traffic—to discover favourite neighbourhoods, cafes and parks.
All the programs work a little differently, but the basics(基本项目) are the same. The tours are free and last anywhere for two or four hours. Volunteers can be all ages, and their ages and interests try to match the travelers.
New York City(USA)
Big Apple Greeter is the pioneer “welcome visitor” program founded in 1992 by New Yorker Lynn Brooks. More than 300 volunteers now can welcome guests from all over the world in 22 languages. Greeters explain the New York City subway and bus systems and show guests around one or more of their favourite neighbourhoods. Like many greeter organizations, Big Apple accepts online donations to help with its daily costs.
Houston(USA)
Houston Greeters will organize activities such as golf, biking or an outing to an Astros game(太空人队的比赛). Another activity is to arrange a tour in need of a particular interest.
Chicago(USA)
Chicago Greeters help visitors visit one of the city’s many famous neighbourhoods. The group organizes walks through Ukrainian Village on the Near North Side and Andersonville, home to Scandinavian restaurants and shops and Middle Eastern bakeries. Guides will also organize tours around themes such as fashion, film or public art.
France
In France, English speaking volunteers for Parisien d’un Jour lead visitors through hidden corners of Paris, often ending with a lively discussion on a café balcony. Guides in Lyon organize walks around themes such as shopping, markets and sports.

end of October. Children often play with pumpkin lanterns and wear all kinds of masks. On April Fool’s Day, they can play jokes on each other.

And yes, it's good to get along well with your teacher because, in general, it's smart to learn how to get along well with the different types of people you'll meet throughout your life.

Nearly everyone wants to be successful. It can be very hard to succeed, though. Here is some advice to help you:
·Plan for success

Most of us have never thought about building an educational toy by ourselves. If we need a learning toy or something, we simply go to the nearest store and buy it. However, things are not as easy in third world countries. With families even having no food to put on the table, buying toys, especially the educational ones, is the last thing on the parents’ minds.
So how can one get these kids interested in science? This was a question that worried the Indian engineer Arvind Gupta so much that he decided to leave his job and spend his life making toys from things that people no longer want or need!
Mr. Gupta began teaching in the 1970s. While still an engineering student at the Indian College of Technology, he volunteered to teach the children who could not afford to go to school. After his graduation, he found a good job at India’s Tata Motors and spent the next five years designing cars.
But he soon realized that this was not something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. So he took a year’s training course and took part in the Hoshangabad Science Teaching Program whose aim was to make science fun and exciting for poor children using common materials.
Mr. Gupta found the whole project so intereting that he decided to leave his high-paying job and pay his attention to designing educational toys that were not only cheap and easy to build, but are also full of scientific principles(科学原理), so that children could get interested in this interesting subject.
When the Internet started becoming a more widespread learning tool, Mr. Gupta created a Toys from Trash website and also recorded over 250 YouTube videos.
Today, over 50,000 children and teachers visit the website daily to download the videos for the toy creations developed from cool science. Some young children have become so inspired (鼓舞)that they have even won international science competitions with the help of his creations.
